Below are various sermons, articles, and study helps I have compiled over the years. By no means do I claim originality for all of the sermons presented. Keep in mind that these materials are to be judged according to the Scriptures. The Bereans were more noble than those in Thessalonica because they “Searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11). If they checked up on inspired apostles, how much more should we check up on uninspired preachers? “Preacheritus” is a disease that too many in religion have! Make sure there is a “Thus saith the Lord” for everything you do.
It is my hope that you will use this material for your own spiritual growth, as well as to lead a soul to Christ.
(David W. Hester has been preaching the Gospel since 1978. His father, Benny W. Hester, was a Gospel preacher and was married to Mary Anne for over fifty years before his passing in 2012. David’s late grandfather, S. F. Hester, preached the Gospel for over forty years before his passing in 1982. David has several uncles and cousins who also preach. David received the B. A. in Bible from Freed-Hardeman in 1987, the M. A. in Bible from Southern Christian University (now Amridge University) in 1990, and the Ph.D. in New Testament from the Turner School of Theology at Amridge in 2013. David and his wife, Brenda, were united in marriage in 1988. She is a 1980 Auburn graduate, and is a speech pathologist for the Blount county school system. They have two sons-Will and Jonathan-who are both active in the Lord’s church. David has written two books, both about the “change movement” among churches of Christ: Among the Scholars (1994) and Tampering With Truth (2007). He also teaches undergraduate and graduate Bible at Faulkner University.)
